For a tenant, the Han river splits Da Nang into two banks. The east is the beach side: Son Tra with its towers by the river, the An Thuong quarter by the beach, Ngu Hanh Son in the south with the resorts and the schools. The west is Hai Chau, the city centre. Where to live comes down to three things: whether you need to walk to the sea, whether you will ride a scooter, and how much you want to spend. Below is a short comparison; each area's page has the prices, the buildings, what is nearby and the downsides.

The four areas in brief

Which area for whom

Son Tra suits people staying a year who want a new building with a pool and the sea and the centre equally close; 10 apartments from our catalogue are here, and 24 of ours are in The Panoma just across the line in Ngu Hanh Son. An Thuong suits people living alone or as a couple, working remotely and wanting to live without a scooter. Ngu Hanh Son suits families with school-age children and anyone who wants a house with a garden; villas and houses are on the villas and houses page. Hai Chau suits people who work in the centre and count their money: the budget for a one-bedroom by the sea gets a two-bedroom here.

About the names

Since 1 July 2025 Vietnam has no districts as a level of government, and addresses use the new wards: the east bank by the bridges is An Hai, the north of the peninsula is Son Tra, the south is Ngu Hanh Son, the centre is Hai Chau and Hoa Cuong. We name the area pages the old way because that is how people search; which quarter is now called what is in our guide to the new ward names.
