A Hoang Anh Gia Lai Lakeview apartment in Da Nang rents for 9-12 million dong a month, about $340-460, according to 30 prices from 11 pages. That is the largest sample among the buildings we track, so the range is more reliable than most price lists online. HAGL Lakeview is an older apartment complex in the centre, west of the Han river and beside Thac Gian lake. People search for it for two reasons: the low price, and the talk of flooding and wear. Both deserve a straight answer. Our catalogue has no unit here right now; the agent we work with finds one on request.

What the building is

HAGL Lakeview was built by Hoang Anh Gia Lai and handed over more than ten years ago: high-rise blocks looking over Thac Gian lake at 72 Ham Nghi, formerly Thac Gian ward of Thanh Khe district, now Thanh Khe ward. We do not have two clean, independent sources for the number of floors, the number of apartments or the handover year. Automated data mixes this complex up with the HAGL Plaza hotel on Nguyen Van Linh, so this page prints no figures about the building until we have checked them on site.

"Wear" in the search results means the complex is old: the corridors, lifts and façade are no longer new, and the quality of each apartment depends entirely on whether the owner has renovated. "Flooding" means the streets around Thac Gian lake and the low roads of the centre, which go under water locally after long, heavy rain. Upper floors are untouched, but a scooter in the basement and the road home are not. Before the rainy season, ask the management about the basement car park and read our guide to the typhoon season for renters.

Apartments and prices

Source Listings Low Median High
Asking prices, 11 pages 30 9 million (about $340) 11 million (about $420) 12 million (about $460)

Confidence is good: 30 prices from 11 pages. These are asking prices; a long lease usually lands lower. In the same price group on the beach side there is Muong Thanh, at about $300; in the centre but newer is FHome, at about $460. The full table by building is in our rent prices guide.

For about $420 at HAGL Lakeview you usually get a two-bedroom that is clearly larger than a one-bedroom at the same price in a newer tower. Space is the real strength of this building.

Who it suits

Families who need a lot of space in the centre on a limited budget; people who work in Hai Chau or Thanh Khe and want to be a few minutes from the office; anyone who does not need the sea in the window. Not for people who need a new building, good management and a pool, and not for anyone who worries about a flooded basement in the rainy season.
